Therapy for Caregivers - Austin & online

Support through the grief and heavy emotions that caregiving can bring

Resentment, overwhelm, exhaustion, and guilt. The complex emotions and heavy demands of caregiving are a shock. Welcome to a safe therapeutic space that offers you the support you deserve.

Grief therapy for women with no time to think about themselves

I love to work with women who’ve reached that time in their life described as the ‘sandwich generation.’ You’re battling demands on all fronts, both with your kids and your parents. And you’re trying to hold everything together for everyone else

With therapy, you’ll be freed from feeling like you’re struggling through each day. From the feeling that just one more little crisis might be the thing that pushes you over the edge.

You’ll feel less alone. The comfort of having someone to share all your deeper feelings, worries, and darker emotions with is so valuable. Your grief and stress won’t vanish completely, but it becomes something you can carry easier, rather than something that controls you.

Everyone needs you. It’s overwhelming and exhausting. But you don’t have to do this alone.

I support people who have experienced significant loss or transition in their lives. You will benefit from working with me if you are going through one or more of the following;

Whether you wanted to be a caregiver or a necessity brought you to this role, I’m here to help you. Caregiving can be wonderful, and for some it has become a job they wouldn't wish on their worst enemy.

And it so often comes at a time of life when people are also facing:

Everyone needs you. It’s overwhelming and exhausting. But you don’t have to do this alone.

Caregivers hold it all together, but it’s hard managing a loved one’s care, and everyone else’s emotions and demands too. Caring for themselves is one of the first things caregivers stop prioritising. The world keeps moving on, but they’re still in a life that’s being lived for everyone apart from themselves. They feel trapped.

If you’re seeing the impact on your relationships and your health, or struggling with guilt or resentment, you need some support that’s just for you.

A chance to slow down, be honest, and feel understood

For an overwhelmed caregiver, all the demands on their time and energy feel impossible.

Therapy helps. It’s your safe space where you don’t have to ‘cope’ or keep up appearances.

Warm, empathetic relational therapy that gives you space to grieve and rebuild

As your therapist, I help you with a range of therapy options - relational therapy,  EMDR, and a mind-body approach. As a former yoga teacher, I use the mind-body approach to help you with emotional regulation and grounding.

Feeling deeply understood and having someone to share your feelings with can bring huge mental relief. You may feel calmer and on steadier ground.

You can share your feelings and learn how to maintain relationships and healthy boundaries that will support you. You’ll get support with any anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm that come with the heavy demands on your time and spirit.

Entering therapy helps you show up for the people you love without watching yourself disappear in the process.

What is it like working with Caregivers Therapy?

If you are looking for a fellow traveler in our journeys who can provide you with support and guidance in your crucible stage, I would highly recommend Danielle for your consideration to solicit a professional personal perspective. She has changed my life in ways I never conceived the possibilities. I faithfully believe in an outcome where she can do the same for you if you are willing to accept the opportunity by challenging the self-limiting illogical fear to take a different path. Peace.

Hi, I’m Danielle Sarris, LPC-A, RYT

I’ve reinvented my professional life many times, and I’ve experienced life being pulled from under me by a health crisis. These experiences have allowed me to understand your feelings on a personal level. I understand how this challenging time reshapes who you are, how you connect, and how you move through the world.

I understand where you are now, trying to restructure your life and relationships, and to keep going, even if it feels like your life is out of control and the world is leaving you behind.

My experiences mean that I meet you with the nuance, compassion, and realism that stem from lived experience. There’s no fear of judgment in my therapy room. You’re welcome to share your deepest feelings. Together we’ll work through them.

Clients often tell me they feel deeply understood and grounded in my presence. They’re relieved to work with a therapist who doesn’t flinch at their pain, rush their healing, or rely solely on textbook solutions.

My role is to serve as your secure base - helping you process what you’ve lost and supporting you to rebuild a life that feels meaningful and true. I can help you find a path forward that doesn't overlook the past or the person you once were.

Questions about therapy for caregivers? Here are the answers

I’m not sure if my situation counts.

Your feelings are valid, and your situation absolutely counts. Caregiving brings all kinds of losses and transitions, many of which don’t fit what you’re “expected” to feel as a caregiver. If you’re struggling, overwhelmed, or having a hard time picturing your life moving forward, it is worth reaching out for help.

Therapy helps you with the feelings and struggles that caregiving brings. It can help you to know that what you’re going through is normal, and that there are paths for you to move forward.

I am currently in the process of credentialing with insurance panels, and will update this page as plans become available.

For clients whose insurance I can’t bill directly, I offer a private-pay model. Simply attend your session, and pay at the time of service via cash or card.

If I’m unable to bill your insurance, I can provide a super bill (detailed receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company to request out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend contacting your insurer in advance to understand your specific benefits.

Good question! I offer a free consultation that allows us to get to know each other. During this consultation, I will determine whether I think I can help you. It is your job in that session to decide if I feel like a good fit for you.

Yes, I work week nights until 7pm, and weekends. During your free consultation, we can discuss what appointments I can offer you.

I support caregivers of any age. In my grief practice, I work with adults, and also with children as young as 5.
