Areas of Focus

Therapy for Grief, Loss, & Transition

Each person arrives with a different story. Danielle’s work is flexible and individualized – shaped around what you are carrying and what you need most in this season.

— Loss & Grief —

  • Grief and loss that doesn't fit into the standard box

  • Traumatic loss (sudden loss, suicide loss, or anticipatory grief)

— Life Transitions —

  • Divorce / separation / relationship betrayal

  • Chronic illness / pain (including fibromyalgia)

  • Midlife crisis that causes grief and overwhelm

Grief impacts all of your life

It doesn’t just leave a space where the loss was – your whole life has to reshuffle in order for you to see the next steps forward. The feelings can be overwhelming, and you don’t feel like yourself anymore.

You might feel like your grief is invisible. Even the people around you who know about your loss discount your feelings and minimize them. When you look around, it seems like everyone else has moved on.

It can be even more complicated when it feels like moving on is a betrayal of the person who has been lost. All of these feelings are a normal part of grief – and we are here with you through it all.

Grief impacts all of your life

ou want to find hope in your life again – to feel connection and less alone in your grief. You aren’t looking for coping strategies. You’re looking for someone who truly understands, who will be present with you, and help you figure out where you can go from here.

“Many of our clients don’t want to move past the pain – they want to figure out how to move forward, bringing the loss with them.”

You want help figuring out who you are now, after this loss.

— Compassionate Support —

To help you heal from the pain you carry

In therapy, I provide the safety and steadiness for you to find all of these things. I’ve experienced life-altering grief and transitions, and because of that, I know how to be present with you in your pain.

Sometimes you just need to feel, and I won’t push you to move on when you aren’t ready. In the therapy room, you have permission to grieve as deeply and as long as you need.

  • With time, you will feel hope again and eventually get to a place where you can rebuild your life.

  • I provide you with a safe space or "secure base" where you can process this loss and build a life that feels meaningful and true to who you are now.

  • You will feel free to grieve however you need to, without pressure to do things differently or more quickly.

  • As a previous yoga teacher, therapy often includes space for mind-body approaches that help with emotional regulation and grounding.

"If you are looking for a fellow traveler in our journeys who can provide you with support and guidance in your crucible stage, I would highly recommend Danielle for your consideration to solicit a professional personal perspective. She has changed my life in ways I never conceived the possibilities. I faithfully believe in an outcome where she can do the same for you if you are willing to accept the opportunity by challenging the self-limiting illogical fear to take a different path. Peace."

Meet Danielle Sarris

As a grief therapist, I believe nothing you do is wrong when it comes to processing loss, restoring meaning to your life, and figuring out how to move forward. In the therapy room, you will experience the perspective, depth, and steadiness of someone who has been there.

I’ve reinvented myself multiple times – from journalist to yoga instructor to therapist – and have faced profound personal and health challenges of my own. This allows me to meet you with nuance, compassion, and realism that comes from lived experience.

I don’t flinch at the pain you are experiencing. I know we can’t rush healing. You are safe to feel what you need to feel. Therapy should feel human, not clinical. When you walk out of the office for the last time, the goal is that you will feel a hope that is honest and earned – one that doesn’t forget the past, but sees the possibilities for your future.

In therapy, I provide the safety and steadiness for you to find all of these things. I’ve experienced life-altering grief and transitions, and because of that, I know how to be present with you in your pain.
