Bereavement Support —Austin & online
Get Support During Pain & Bereavement
Sometimes what's needed is simply a steady presence. I offer bereavement and grief support at your pace and in your time. And when you're ready, I help you find a path forward that honors your past.
Many people have had experiences that turned their worlds upside down.
Sometimes it happened slowly over time, and sometimes all of a sudden, their world is completely different. If this is you, you might describe the loss you’ve experienced as life-altering.
Often in this situation you aren’t just trying to process a huge loss but also the hole it has left in your life. You’re looking at the impact on your future and asking yourself what do I do now.
You might feel like you don’t know who you are anymore or what your life should look like moving forward.
You may experience frustration with your emotional response, feeling like you aren’t moving as quickly as everyone else, while at the same time experiencing guilt for thinking about moving on at all.
Everyone is moving on with their lives, while you feel stuck, mired in the depths of grief, and still experiencing emotional pain.
If this is you, I can help.
Therapy for Painful Bereavement in Austin, TX
I support people who have experienced significant loss or transition in their lives. You will benefit from working with me if you are going through one or more of the following;
● Grief and loss that doesn’t fit into the standard box
● Divorce / separation / relationship betrayal
● Chronic illness / pain (including fibromyalgia)
● Midlife crisis that causes grief and overwhelm
● Traumatic loss (sudden loss, suicide loss, or anticipatory grief)
Grief impacts all of your life. It doesn’t just leave a space where the loss was. But your whole life has to reshuffle in order for you to see the next steps in your life.
The feelings can be overwhelming, and you don’t feel like yourself anymore.
You might feel like your grief is invisible, even the people around you who know about your grief discount the feelings and minimize them.
When you look around, it seems like everyone else has moved on, and it can feel disheartening to be in the place where you are emotionally. This is exacerbated when others are pushing you to move on before you’re ready.
It can be even more complicated when it feels like moving on is a betrayal of the person who has been lost.
All of these feelings are a normal part of grief, and we are here with you through it all.
Hope for life after loss and transition
You want to find hope in your life again, to find connection and feel less alone in your grief.
You aren’t looking for ways to cope, you are looking for someone who understands, to be present with you and help you figure out where you can go from here.
Many of our clients don’t want to move past the pain, but to figure out how to move forward, bringing the loss with them.
You want help figuring out who you are now after this loss.
Compassionate support to help you heal from the pain you carry
In therapy, I provide the safety and steadiness for you to find all of these things. I’ve experienced life-altering grief and transitions, and because of that, I know how to be present with you in your pain.
Sometimes you just need to feel, and I won’t push you to move on when you aren’t ready. In the therapy room, you have permission to grieve as deeply and as long as you need.
With time, you will feel hope again and eventually get to a place where you can rebuild your life.
As your therapist, I provide you with a safe space or “secure base” where you can process this loss and, as time moves on, build a life that feels meaningful and true to who you are now.
The therapy room is a place where you can slow down, be honest with your feelings, and feel understood. Where you will feel free to grieve however you need to, without pressure to do things differently or more quickly.
As a previous yoga teacher, therapy often includes space for mind-body approaches that help with emotional regulation and grounding.

Meet Danielle Sarris
As a bereavement therapist, we all have our own grief journey, and nothing you do is wrong when it comes to processing loss, restoring meaning to your life, and figuring out how to move forward.
In the therapy room, you will experience the perspective, depth, and steadiness of someone who has been there. I am not early in my life or my career, and you, as my client, benefit from my experiences.
You learn how to move on from someone who understands and has been there.
I’ve reinvented myself multiple times in my career (from journalist to yoga instructor to therapist) and experienced profound personal and health challenges.
This allows me to meet you with the nuance, compassion, and realism that stems from lived experience. While also being able to understand you on the deepest level.
As I have experienced it and come out the other side. I don’t flinch at the pain you are experiencing, and I know we can’t rush healing.
You are safe to feel the pain that you need to feel.
It isn’t therapeutic techniques that will get you to the other side. It’s often about having a supportive, steady presence that allows you to take the time you need to heal.
Therapy should feel human, not clinical. When you walk out of the office for the last time, the goal is that you will feel a hope that is honest and earned. That doesn’t forget the past but sees the possibilities for your future.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am currently in the process of credentialing with insurance panels through my clinical supervisor and will update this page as plans become available.
For clients whose insurance I’m not able to bill directly, I offer services through a private-pay model. You simply attend your session and pay at the time of service via cash or card — straightforward and paperwork-free.
If I’m unable to bill your insurance, I can provide a superbill (detailed receipt) that you may submit to your insurance company to request out-of-network reimbursement. Because I am an LPC-Associate, reimbursement is not guaranteed and varies by plan, so I always recommend contacting your insurer in advance to understand your specific benefits.
I also keep a limited number of sliding-scale, lower-cost sessions available. I never want cost to be the reason individuals cannot access therapy — if finances are a concern, please feel free to reach out and we can talk through options.
